Disclaimer

Not legal advice. LandlordSquare is a self-help document tool, not a law firm. Using it does not create an attorney-client relationship, and we don't guarantee that any notice is legally sufficient for your situation. Laws change. You are responsible for checking the current law, your lease and local rules, and for serving the notice correctly. When in doubt, talk to a licensed attorney in your state.

Self-help, not a lawyer

LandlordSquare provides general information and fill-in templates for people who choose to prepare their own landlord notices. We do not review your answers, your lease or your facts, and we cannot tell you which notice to use or whether you have grounds to use it.

Accuracy

We link every rule we rely on to its source (see Legal sources) and note the date we read it. We do not promise the information is complete or current. Statutes, court decisions, local ordinances and agency rules change, and some areas (for example, how certain notice periods are counted, or what counts as service) can be interpreted differently by different courts.

Rent-regulated and subsidized housing

Rent-stabilized and rent-controlled apartments in New York, municipally rent-controlled units in New Jersey, public housing, and federally subsidized housing have additional rules these templates do not cover. Get legal help.
